"Máquina Climática" selected for the FAD Awards 2025

We are proud to share that Máquina Climática, the exhibition held at the Greenhouse in Barcelona’s Parc de la Ciutadella, has been selected for the FAD Architecture Awards 2025, in the Ephemeral Interventions category. In less than a year, this exhibition has become the most visited of its kind worldwide. It brought together innovation, sustainability, and scientific outreach, attracting over 500,000 visitors. At Tectum Garden, we were involved from the beginning of the project. We were responsible for the design and maintenance of the urban hydroponic garden that brought life to the space throughout its 269 days of operation. We worked closely with the research group Sostenipra from ICTA-UAB, developing a functional and educational growing system where visitors could observe the real-time growth of tomato and broad bean plants in a controlled urban environment. The exhibition offered a journey in three parts, combining art, science, and environmental awareness. It included an audiovisual on climate change, artistic installations, and practical examples of urban greenhouses as sustainable solutions for local food production. This recognition at the FAD Awards strengthens Máquina Climática’s role as an international benchmark. For us at Tectum Garden, it has been an opportunity to demonstrate how our vision of sustainable urban agriculture can be integrated with culture, science, and the urban environment.
